Three Months. Five Records. One Arbitrage System.

Bancor’s Arb Fast Lane is on a tear.

It wasn’t long ago I shared that Bancor’s Arb Fast Lane had set new all-time highs for March — a record-breaking moment for one of DeFi’s most advanced pieces of trading infrastructure.

Those records didn’t last long.

The Arb Fast Lane shattered those numbers in April — breaking records in both transaction count and gas consumption — and then went even further in May, setting yet another all-time high in transaction volume.

That’s five new records in just three months — a streak of performance that shows no signs of slowing.

Glenn, Business Development at Bancor, recently shared a performance recap on X, highlighting just how far the Arb Fast Lane has come. It’s not just setting records. It’s reinforcing its position as essential infrastructure for onchain trading — powering Carbon DeFi, Bancor’s flagship DEX, with best-in-class execution and supporting the broader Sei ecosystem with deep, cross-DEX price alignment.

Three Months, Five Records

Here’s a breakdown of the Arb Fast Lane’s record-setting performance over the past three months — with all-time highs in both transaction volume and gas consumption:

March

  • 169,515 transactions (previous all-time high)

  • ~81B gas consumed (previous all-time high)

April

  • 204,888 transactions (new all-time high)

  • ~92B gas (new all-time high)

May

  • 217,392 transactions (newest all-time high)

  • ~82B gas (second-highest to date)

Behind these numbers is an advanced arbitrage framework developed by Bancor — one that intelligently routes trades across orders, full range positions, and concentrated liquidity positions on Carbon DeFi and across the entire Sei ecosystem.

It serves two core purposes:

  1. Aggregate chainwide liquidity to deliver best-in-class execution for users on Carbon DeFi.

  2. Enforce price parity across onchain trading venues, stabilizing markets and enhancing efficiency at the network level.

Ecosystem Momentum on the Rise

The Arb Fast Lane’s performance isn’t happening in isolation — it’s responding to a rise in overall activity on Sei. Since March, both total value locked (TVL) and transaction volume across the network have been climbing, indicating a broader uptick in economic usage.

It’s not just volume that’s picking up on Sei.

This surge in gas consumption reflects more than just activity — it’s a sign of ongoing optimization, deeper liquidity routing, and increasing arbitrage complexity.

Dominating the Charts

In an increasingly competitive environment, the Arb Fast Lane continues to outperform.

  • Top 30 in transaction count

  • Top 15 in gas usage

While the Arb Fast Lane incorporates all major sources of liquidity on Sei, the majority of its transactions touch both Oku and Carbon DeFi — two of the most active venues on the network.

Notably, these stats exclude its additional role in wrapping and unwrapping SEI to wSEI — a constant behind-the-scenes operation needed to bridge liquidity between protocols with varying asset requirements.

Accelerating Performance, Smarter Execution

Part of what’s driving this growth isn’t just activity on Sei — it’s the intelligence behind the Arb Fast Lane itself.

Recently, Bancor researchers introduced a major breakthrough:
Marginal Price Optimization: A New Framework for Arbitrage and Routing in AMM-Driven Markets.

Read the research: https://arxiv.org/html/2502.08258v1

This framework dramatically improves how the Arb Fast Lane identifies and executes arbitrage opportunities — prioritizing marginal price impact over average pricing. In live testing, it demonstrated up to a 200x speed improvement over previously published algorithms.

“What we have tried to create here is a conceptual shift in how arbitrage and routing problems are addressed in AMM-driven markets. At the heart of our study is a reevaluation of traditional convex optimization approaches. We confront situations where conventional methods struggle with convergence and numerical stability. By refocusing the problem on marginal price optimization, we have reduced a complex, high-dimensional task into a more manageable root-finding problem.”
Dr. Mark Richardson, Project Lead at Bancor, in Arbitrage as Infrastructure

As onchain trading becomes faster and more competitive, that edge matters. These optimizations are now fully integrated — powering more precise execution, better capital efficiency, and the record-breaking performance we’re seeing today.

Building Stronger Blockchains — One Transaction at a Time

The Arb Fast Lane isn’t just setting records — it’s playing a vital role in strengthening the infrastructure of every chain it touches.

Efficient markets are essential for long-term blockchain health. The Arb Fast Lane’s impact is threefold:

  • Price Stability: By arbitraging across decentralized exchanges, the Arb Fast Lane helps align prices, reduce spreads, and minimize volatility.

  • Higher Trading Volume: Stable pricing encourages more trading activity, which deepens liquidity and supports stronger token markets.

  • Network Growth: Sustained transaction flow and consistent gas usage signal a thriving network — boosting user confidence and attracting new projects.

Across every chain it operates on, the Arb Fast Lane helps transform fragmented liquidity into a unified, healthy ecosystem.

Looking Ahead

Bancor’s arbitrage infrastructure is now live across 12+ blockchain ecosystems, and deployment discussions are ongoing with others.

For blockchains aiming to strengthen their infrastructure, improve price accuracy, and fuel organic onchain volume — the Arb Fast Lane is proving what’s possible.
